The case notes
How far a Dutch whisper jumps
Adjacent digits on a Dutch whisper line differ by at least four. Watch a worked example, then try the idea in a puzzle.
Put it into practice
Neighbours differ by 4+
Dutch whispers are orange lines. Each pair of neighbouring cells along the line must differ by at least four.
From 2: 6, 7, 8, 9
This end is two. Its neighbour must be at least six: four or more away. Six, seven, eight and nine could work from this side.
6 is too close to 3
Now check the three at the other end. Six is only three away from it, so six fails. Seven, eight or nine are far enough from both ends.
Middle: 7, 8 or 9
The middle is seven, eight or nine. Only neighbours on the line need this gap; the two end digits do not touch.
