Dot centre: 2 or 4
The two dots and the shared box leave two choices for the centre: two or four. Each choice needs different digits at the dot ends.
4 forces low and high ends
Try four in the centre. Its dot partners would be two and eight. One is low, the other high. But the two Whisper ends must share the same low or high side.

With two in the centre, the dot ends can be one and four: both low. The Whisper can put a high digit between them. Two is settled.
